Would you be in the crowd yelling, crucify Him? On this day we reflect the torture’s Jesus went through for you and me. I would like to think that I wouldn’t have been in that crowd yelling, “crucify Him.” But I have to say, my track of following others for the wrong reason in my life has happened. But if He wasn’t crucified how could He have saved us? Many thoughts and mysteries on this day. Let’s remember what Jesus said before He entered and opened up the Heavenly Kingdom.

“Father Forgive Them, They know not what they do.” (Luke 23:24)

Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.” (Luke 23:43)

When Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to her, “Woman, here is your son.” (John 19:26)

DARKNESS NOON TO THREE PM.

“My God my God, why have you forsaken me?” (Matthew 27:46 and Mark 15:34)

“I thirst” (John 19:28)

“It is finished” (John 19:30)

Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.” When he had said this, he breathed his last. (Luke 23:46)

The prophecy is fulfilled. About 3pm the veil tore from top to the bottom. Some rocks rolled away from the graves and people rose. So much to process and to focus on, He died for us to take away all sin.

Let us pray, Dear Heavenly Father, help me to live a life that is worthy to say thank you for giving the sacrifice of your Son. Help me to accept my cross I must carry, to learn to love and grow in faith. Give me grace to do your will each and everyday. Help me to share your word by loving actions and not just by words. Lord Jesus we love you and praise you not only today but everyday. Amen!

Riding with Jesus on Holy/Maundy Thursday

Today visualize the things Jesus did today, pause and be reminded of His pure and unselfish love. What does Maundy mean? It is derived from the Latin word “command,” Jesus leaves His disciplines and us with commandments and teachings that will stay in this world forever. “Love one another as I have loved you.” At the Last Supper, The Holy Eucharist, this is my body, and this is my blood. “Do this in memory of me.” This is happening at Passover the festival that commemorates the exodus of the Jews from Egypt. Why did Jesus wash His disciple’s feet? In John chapter 13, Jesus teaches them and us to be servants and to love and to serve, no matter who you are we must be humble. Jesus tells the story that He will eat no more until the kingdom of God is fulfilled. Jesus prays in the Garden of Gethsemane, He falls to His knees, where His human emotions overwhelmed Him with sadness and anguish and cried out, “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass me by. Nevertheless, let it be as You, not I, would have it.” “If this cup cannot pass by, but I must drink it, Your will be done!” (Matthew 26:42) Then Jesus came forward and confronted His arresters when Judas gave Him a kiss on the cheek to signal, He was the one. God’s will began.

Dear Lord, our Heavenly Father, You gave us Your only Son, He shared His humanness with us so we could learn from Him. Serving others even by washing their feet. Help us to continue to learn from His actions. Strengthen our hands and our wills to share Your love and be a servant to others. Teach us to simply trust and open our hearts to receive all you have for us. Help us to keep strong in our faith and ask for grace. Let us keep our eyes open even in the darkest times, knowing Christ will lead us, because He is the light of the world. Help us understand that power is not of worldly things, like money, titles, or what we own. Christ on the Cross, He was powerless but even today this example of His love brings us to our knees and we have learned through Him that the Trinity is our power, through the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. This is a free gift You have given us, only if we have the courage and the faith to trust! We ask for this courage! In your precious name of Christ who died for all of us. Amen!

Riding with Jesus on Spy/Holy Wednesday

Today meditate on these questions. Have you ever denied Jesus? Have you given Him your most precious things in life? Dedicate today in thinking how you can spend more time with Him. Give Him the precious gift of time. On this Holy Wednesday Jesus continues teaching in the temple daily, He tells his disciples to find a room where they can prepare for the Passover and the Lord’s Supper. The chief priests were finalizing the plot to arrest Jesus with Judas assistance. A woman comes to Jesus with the Alabaster jar and washes Him with her most precious oil. Picture by Michael Belk.

Riding with Jesus on Holy Tuesday

By Holy Week, Faith, Easter
Picture by Michael Belk from his book, Journeys with the Messiah

Let us focus today on our deep faith in prayer.

It was an exhausting Holy Tuesday for Jesus.  He and his disciples returned to Jerusalem.  They passed the withered fig tree and Jesus reminds us all about the importance of faith.  The Israel’s religious authorities challenged Jesus, asking what right did have to cleanse the temple among other things.  They were trying to force Jesus to state that He had divine power from God so that they could charged him with blasphemy and arrest him.  Jesus was strong and wise, and it did not happen, so the chief priest plots another plan to have Jesus crucified.  The chief priest makes a deal with Judas of the Disciples and paid him 30 pieces of silver to betray Jesus.  Jesus also went to Mount of Olives and he shared about the prophecy of the destruction of Jerusalem and the end of the age.  He speaks in parables talking of the end of time and His Second coming and the final judgment.

Sit in silence and reflect on your faith and let us pray. . .  O my Lord, my God as I reflect on the message of the cross it is so difficult. How does death become eternal life?  You suffered a difficult death.  You show me your weakness carrying a cross knowing through your suffering comes strength to open Heaven, eternal life for all.  Lord, I thank you, please help me with any unbelief.  In your name and through the Holy Spirit I ask to walk in the way You taught us and to keep my faith alive!  In His Name, Amen! Amen! In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen ?

Riding with Jesus, Holy Week

By Holy Week, Faith, Easter

The Ride begins on Palm Sunday for Holy Week ~ Let’s Ride with Him! First Day of Holy Week ~ Palm Sunday

As Jesus approach Jerusalem on a donkey, he was fulfilling the Old Testament prophecy of Zechariah 9:9; it was common for kings to arrive by a procession riding on a donkey. Donkey symbolized peace so has they rode them it meant that they come in peace. Jesus is the Prince of Peace. As he rode by the people cut palm branches and waved them as he rode by and they laid them out on the ground before Jesus as He rode into the city. The palm branch represents goodness and victory and was a reminder that victory of death was soon to be fulfilled of the final victory He would soon fulfill over death. The crowd was shouting “Hosanna!” the word actually means, “save now.” Even thou Jesus saw their adoration he wept knowing that these same people would turn their backs on Him and crucify Him. Jesus knew his roll, that they needed a Savior. What are we to remember about Palm Sunday, Jesus Christ was the ultimate sacrifice, God sent His only son to fight our battle over death so that we may have eternal life and be set free?

This is the first day of Holy Week, as you pedal through this week stop and contemplate all your thoughts and attention on what matters the most in your life and give Him all the glory because of the grace He has given you each day. Don’t let the tempter take any of your joy away, fix your eyes on Jesus.

“Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; righteous and having salvation is he, humble and mounted on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.” Zech. 9:9“O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” 1 Cor. 15:55

“If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Rom. 10:9″

As he approached Jerusalem and saw the city, he wept over it, and said, “If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace–but now it is hidden from your eyes.” Luke 19:41-42

“Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies,’ “John 11:25

Let’s choose to focus on worshipping our Lord, thanking Him for the gift of His sacrifice, celebrating the power of the Resurrection, and the new life found in Him alone. Grace.

“Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!” 2 Cor. 9:15
